It feels weird writing this. On one hand it feels like only yesterday that we started our first class in Stour Row. On the other hand, the amount of things that have happened in that time is crazy!
New Classes
From Wednesday 7th January we have our 4th Venue – East Stour Village Hall! It’s a great large space for us with great parking. Classes will be on Wednesdays there. 17:30 – Juniors, 18:25 – Family. I know Stour Row can be a bit cramped, so hopefully some of you can make the Wednesday to try our more adventurous lessons! We have a waiting list for the Tuesday Juniors, so hopefully this will ease that a little too.
As promised I’m trying to move the Thursday at Stur to a Monday as it was the most requested day and add a Friday. I have a few potential venues from Jan, just waiting for confirmation from our ideal one.
Thursdays will return when there’s enough demand. Either in Stur or in somewhere to the west. I need to onboard another instructor to help me, so watch this space.
Member Update
We have 24 students which is probably 20 more than I expected to have at this point, so thank you all for your faith. We have a number of new students joining us in January, including c. 30-40 from a local school (more on that below).
First Grading
Well done to everyone that graded! While I know not everyone got the grade they wanted, every one passed. Most of you only had 7-8 weeks to learn what you would normally have 3 months for. Everyone gave it their all and you should all be very proud of what you achieved. Having a matted venue for our first grading felt really special. I want ‘Quality’ to be a word associated with our club and the venue worked great for that. Next years’ grading are all on the website, so pop them in your diaries.
Annual Awards
A huge thank you to everyone that attended – I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support. I am very proud of what you’ve all achieved in this short space of time and it was great to be able to recognise that. I’m guessing you all liked your gift as I’ve seen some of you wearing them outside of club!
Partnership with Sandroyd School
We’re proud to announce an exciting partnership with Sandroyd school. We’ll be holding 3 classes a week at the school and expect to have 30-40 new students from January. The students will have a co-branded dobok. We hope that they will join us at various competitions next year.
English Opens
Early in the club, two of our students (Mikey and Daisy) took home Bronze trophies in the English Opens in October. In the new year we’ll begin preparing for the South East Opens.
