A leading TaeKwon-Do organisation announced black doboks today, citing confidence for female practitioners as the main reason. Here at Unity, we have reviewed this under our inclusivity policy – we believe that’s a great idea and are following “suit”

After struggling to get the mud out of my son’s dobok last week, I think we could all benefit from wearing them sometimes! In normal training sessions, you may wear the black dobok trousers with either your training t-shirt, rash guard, or white dobok jacket.
We would still ideally like all students to grade in their white doboks where possible, but if you feel more comfortable for whatever reason then you may switch the white dobok trousers for black ones. This goes for
all students regardless of gender.
While history and heritage is incredible important to us, so is ensuring that all our students are comfortable and focusing on enjoying their training. I have ordered a pair for myself and will lead by example rotating them with my usual white ones.
Important Note: At least for the time being, we won’t be making black dobok tops, so if you enter competitions you will need to wear the full white dobok.
