There’s 7 to collect and if you collect all 7 you’ll be presented with a special headband. You also can’t win an award 2 months running so it’ll take over a year to earn them all.
The instructor & helper team are consulted every month and nominations can come from any student, so if you’d like to nominate a student for an award, speak to one of the Instructor team.
August Awards
Honour
Oscar F
Oscar is very new to the club but has made an amazing impression on the instructor team. He’s super polite, courteous and always the first to volunteer. He’s a real natural at Taekwon-do too and definitely one to watch.
Courtesy
Albert Down
Albert is very new to the club and is our first Dragon to win a Tenet Award. Albert is super polite, very focused and sets an amazing example to the other students. He’s also very natural!
Perseverance
John
John has set the record for longest time as a white belt! He’s been unable to make a number of previous dates, only managing to grade this month. John is very determined and I hope goes very far.
Noah
I know Noah finds patterns and theory very hard, but he tries so hard. Noah trained with some of us at a previous club which had some problems. Despite that he kept on going and has really grown recently. He gets better every month and we’re determined to get him into a competition!
Self-Control
Abel
This one technically missed the deadline, but we were just so impressed that we had to issue an extra award. We know that keeping still can be a challenge sometimes, especially when movement helps us regulate. Abel had his first grading at the weekend and was remarkable, even managing to skip one of the junior belts. We’re very proud of him.
Courage
Sam
Joining a new club is always hard, but it must be even harder to move from Karate to Taekwon-Do. It’s hard to learn new patterns, but even harder to also unlearn muscle memory from Karate. Sam is a ray of sunshine in our classes and we hope he’ll continue to grow in our club.
Community
Alyson
We said at our first awards, “every club needs an Aly” and I’m so pleased that we have the real one. Alyson has been through a lot recently, but always turns up with a big smile and a willingness to learn. Alyson and Mr Plummer both gave their time up recently to help fit out the centre. Note: Mr Plummer won an award last month so is ineligible this month.
Emma
Emma is literally part of the family, but I don’t want that to exclude her from awards. She always goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, help with the club and support fellow students. Her experience as a Nursery Nurse has been very helpful with our new Dragons class.
